Our design draws upon the rough edges, waves, and natural palette of the wild coastline of the Pacific Northwest. We focused on creating a space with atmosphere that was fluid like the coast: calming to be in, easy to move within.
The sharp edges of the marble and concrete bar offset the smooth plaster curves of the wall and ceiling. The threshold between cafe and bar was designed to create a moment of transition that was in-step with the fluidity of the space and also works as an enveloping entrance hiding in plain sight.
