Bar Beau

Bar Beau is a coffee shop by day, restaurant by night owned by Claire Chan of The Elk.

Our design draws upon the Pacific Northwest's wild coastline. We focused on creating a space with atmosphere that was fluid like the coast: calming to be in, easy to move within. The sharp edges of the marble and concrete bar offset the smooth plaster curves of the wall and ceiling. The threshold between cafe and bar was designed to create a moment of transition and also works as an enveloping entrance hiding in plain sight.
